The PostMods Scooter Squad will be hosting two Sunday rides in February, one on February 12th & a second ride on February 26th.  Both rides will be geared toward the "beginner newbie" who might be ready for a new challenge like crossing the Golden Gate Bridge in a group of fellow riders, yet will hold the interest of even the most experienced scooterist.

PostMods member Brian Kestenblatt has volunteered to lead this year's inaugural ride boasting the Valentine's/anti-Valentine's day theme, Till Death Do Us Part.  Brian is a Funeral Director & Cemetery Manager here in SF.  Riders will get an insider's look at the local burial sites of such celebrities as Joe DiMaggio, Wyatt Earp, Lefty O'Doul and more.  We'll ride to & thru a few cemeteries then wind our way back to the city for a private tour of San Francisco's architectural landmark, the Columbarium.

The February 12th riders will meet up at Scuderia at 10:30am, with "kickstands up" promptly at 11am following a quick safety briefing, southbound to Colma's cemeteries via El Camino.  We'll end the ride around 3/4pm at the Columbarium, & if anyone would like to grab a bite to eat following the ride, arrangements will be made that afternoon.  We need to have a head count no later than Friday February 10th so we know how many will be attending.

Rider experience level required: from "SURFACE STREETS ONLY" NEWBIE to the "ROAD WARRIOR" SEASONED RIDER, all are encouraged to join.

February 26th's ride will take the group across the Golden Gate Bridge, winding thru the back roads of Mill Valley en route to the Nature Friends Tourist Club on Mount Tamalpais, where we'll be enjoying a pancake breakfast benefiting A Home Away From Homelessness.  The pancake breakfast is from 10:30-1pm, so riders will meet fairly early at Scuderia, where scooterists can arrive as early as 9:15am for a 10am launch time following a quick safety briefing. Following our syrupy carb-loading, we'll poll those in the group to see if there's any interest in taking the long way home and hitting the backroad twisties along Mt. Tam.  RSVP's are needed WELL IN ADVANCE, AS THIS SELLS OUT EACH YEAR!!  We need to have a head count no later than February 12th so we can buy tickets in advance.

Club co-founder Stephanie Yue is planning to leave the San Francisco area once more in April bound for Alaska on her Vespa GTS 250! She would like to do a trial run of the necessary camping equipment she'll be taking with her to the freakin' Yukon, so the club will be hosting a camping trip on Saturday March 25th at the Anthony Chabot Campgrounds in the east bay.  For those of you who have no intention on EVER going across the Bay Bridge on your scooters, this trip is for you!!  We'll be researching van & trailer rentals for that weekend, with the intention of trailering a dozen or so scooters to Lake Chabot so we can partake of some of the local back roads.  More on that very soon as the details develop.
